Kick off the football season & tackle these food & wine pairings:
(In the huddle) Alright… I want Barbera in the backfield. Dolcetto, Cab, and Chianti stay up front to let me breathe a bit in the pocket. Shiraz and Spumante run a corkscrew route. Merlot, you open up late to the left. I want Riesling to run a foil route and peel off to the right. Zinfandel can jam up the middle and pull in the defense a bit.
Ready, on two on two… BREAK!
Football season begins tonight! Is there a better reason to dabble with food and drink? I’ll keep this short, but if you’re not gun-slinging beers during the game and want to enjoy wine instead… there’s a food pairing for that.

Jim from Hello VinoP.S. Zinfandel was all jammed up and not an option across the middle. Spumante was covered by a taller opponent. Merlot opened up a bit too late, and Riesling had trouble peeling off easily. Shiraz was open in the end zone, but dropped the ball because it was being heckled/distracted by a fan (later identified as Syrah).
