Pour your proud colors of Red, White, and Rose this weekend

We know a lot of folks are looking forward to a long holiday weekend since the 4th of July lands on a Monday this year. In addition, we know plenty of folks will be attending cookouts, visiting friends and family, and sipping some beverages in nice weather. Although a certain red, white, and blue brand of beer will in abundance and camping out in coolers, wine lovers can bring their own variation of red, white, and…rose to the party.

Many wines are super tasty with grilled meats, seafood, side salads, burgers, and delicious desserts. For more BBQ wine pairings, or cookout wine recommendations, please dig into the free Hello Vino wine app, or simply visit HelloVino.com.

Here are a few patriotic suggestions to get you started:

Red

2008 Kenwood Vineyards Sonoma County Zinfandel

"Our Sonoma County Zinfandel is blended from vineyards located in Sonoma County’s best Zinfandel appellations, the Sonoma, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys. A portion of the blend comes from old-vine vineyards that have been producing excellent grapes since the 1940’s. Red-fruit aromas of raspberries and cherries combine with spicy notes of vanilla and pepper. Complex tannins with excellent mouthfeel and a lingering finish"

Pairings: This spicy, dark fruit style of Zinfandel is delicious with: Burgers (with ketchup or bacon), BBQ Ribs, Mexican Dip, Teriyaki Beef, and NY Strip Steak.

White

2009 Jacob’s Creek Reserve Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

"Jacob’s Creek Reserve Chardonnay is pale yellow with vibrant green hues,

highly fragrant cool climate varietal aromas of citrus and white peach, with a touch of spicy oak. Flavors of lemon citrus with a hint of cashew nut and rich, textural creamy weight. A full flavored wine with crisp acidity that provides an elegant structure and great length.”

Pairings: This crisp, fruity, yet acidic style of Chardonnay is perfect for Shrimp, Macaroni Salad, Chicken Kabobs, Seafood Salad, and Desserts with Pecans.

Rose

Charles & Charles Rose 2010

A collaboration founded in 2008 between Food & Wine Magazine 2009 Winemaker of the year, Charles Smith (K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines) and Charles Bieler (Three Thieves, BIELER Pere et Fils, Sombra mezcal). The label is an abstract play on the American Flag done by the well loved and historic Nashville, TN poster shop, Hatch Show Print.

Tasting Note of the Summer…

"Remember Jolly Ranchers? Hold that thought…grab a bottle of this wine, open, pour, sniff, swirl, taste. Now…dontchya think that this wine is the way-evolved, been-around-the-world-a- few-times, insouciantly hip, cool-as-the-other-side-of-the-pillow, casually bad a** son of Jolly Rancher? Yeah, we thought so, too." - Jeff Cox, Wine Guy @ PCC Natural Markets (Seattle, WA)

Pairings: This light, crisp fruit forward style of Rose is a great partner for Guacomole (with chips), Turkey Finger Sandwiches, Lobster, and Souvlaki

Have a great weekend everybody.

Cheers!
